Cognitive function

Diabetes treatment regimens are often complex, and therefore, intact cognitive function may be important in reducing the risk of treatment-related adverse events such as severe hypoglycemia. There is evidence that cognitive status may influence the functional ability of people with type 2 diabetes, and it has been shown that patients with dementia have a poorer ability to self-manage their diabetes.
