Professor Barry E Levin earned his MD degree from Emory University Medical School and performed his postgraduate training in Internal Medicine and Neurology at Cornell Affiliated Hospitals and the National Institute of Neurologic Diseases and Stroke. His research deals with the neural regulation of energy homeostasis, which he studies in a rat model of diet-induced obesity with inborn leptin and insulin resistance. Much of his recent work deals with mechanisms for increasing leptin sensitivity by altering the perinatal environment.
